Meanjin-based indie pop-rock artist ixaras is back with her most assured single yet, What’s Good. At just 18, ixaras continues to evolve into one of the country’s most exciting and outspoken new voices, known for her fearless songwriting, raw live energy, and sharp creative vision. Blending intimate vulnerability with electric confidence, she’s building a world where identity, self-expression, and emotional growth collide.
A coming-of-age anthem with power-pop punch, What’s Good marks a shift from introspection to reclamation. Anchored in driving guitars and defiant vocals, the track captures the clarity that comes after heartbreak, when reflection begins to replace pain. It’s an anthem for moving on, standing taller, and knowing your worth.
“‘What’s good’ is the song that should have ended the first EP ‘Full Lover Fake Friend’, but because of the growth in songwriting on this track, it makes a clear stand-alone single for this next era. The ending of relationships is rarely as savage as it seems in the moment, but with time we gain more clarity and perspective. I hope the vulnerability provides comfort with those trying to move through the periods of pain that is normally experienced during heartbreak,” ixaras shares.
What’s Good is the third single from her forthcoming debut album, due out in October. It follows her sold-out east coast headline tour, with two Melbourne shows, Sydney, and Brisbane all packing out. The single also comes off the back of her breakout track Do You Like Girls?, which received strong editorial support from Spotify (Fresh Finds AU & NZ, Indie Arrivals) and Apple Music (In My Room, Alpha, Teen Pop Hits, A-List Pop, New Music Daily, Superbloom). The track was added to Unearthed Radio and received over 60 radio spins across triple j, 4ZZZ, Joy 94.9, Triple R, Southern FM, and more. The music video, featuring Lottie McLeod, Lily Lea, Evelyn Hall, Felix, Tanika Jones and Rowie, has already garnered 8.7k+ views.
ixaras recently released her seven-part docuseries IT GOES LIKE THIS in partnership with Screen Queensland, which followed her debut tour supporting Grinspoon and offered a behind-the-scenes look at her rise as a young artist. She has received media support from Frankie Magazine, The Music, Happy Mag, Live Nation, Music Feeds, Girl.com.au, and more. She’s also collaborated with major brands including XBOX, General Pants, and Adidas (in a campaign with Happy Mag and producer Dave Jenkins Jr.). Previously named an Apple Music “Up Next” artist in Australia, ixaras continues to build her community through her youth-focused label and creative platform Anti-Dismal, empowering emerging artists through both music and media.
With What’s Good, ixaras enters a powerful new era, one defined by reflection, clarity, and the kind of emotional maturity that connects instantly with a generation moving through love, loss, and growth.
