“This song almost didn’t make the cut,” says Jemma. “This was the first song I wrote with Xav back in May 2021… I think it was a day or so before my ex and I of 5 years broke up. I was exhausted mentally, and I didn’t want to write about what I was going through anymore. I was thinking about my best friend at the time – about relationships where you can take off the mask, and ‘tell them all the lies’ you show to the world. This song is an anthem for those people who feel stuck having to be someone that they think the world wants them to be.”
