Frontier Touring and MG Live are thrilled to announce Australia’s heart of rock n roll, Jimmy Barnes, with his 6-date ‘DEFIANT ‘ Tour for June 2025.
Touring in celebration of his 21st studio album ‘DEFIANT’ (out Fri 6 June via Mushroom Music), Jimmy with his 9-piece band will play Adelaide Entertainment Centre Theatre on Saturday 7 June, Riverside Theatre PCEC, Perth on Sunday 8 June before heading to the east coast performing at the Palais Theatre, Melbourne on Saturday 14 June, The Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane on Saturday 21 June and Sydney’s State Theatre on Friday 27 June before a final show at Canberra Theatre on Saturday 28 June.
Jimmy said, “I’m really looking forward to getting back on stage with my band again. I’m so proud of this new record – all the songs mean a lot to me and I can’t wait to share them with you. It’s going to be some serious fun!”
Never one to slow down, Jimmy Barnes has always been a fighter…the son of a Scottish boxing champion, a survivor of a violent childhood and was once part of an Adelaide band who battled tooth and claw for six years, so it’s only fitting his new album and tour is appropriately ‘DEFIANT’. Having notched up an unprecedented 21 #1’s on the Australian album charts (15 as a solo artist and 6 with Cold Chisel), the ‘DEFIANT’ Tour follows Cold Chisel’s triumphant ‘The Big Five-O’ Anniversary Tour 2024, and sees Jimmy hitting the road with his 9-piece band as he brings his ‘DEFIANT’ album to life.
The first taste of the album being released tomorrow is the double-single New Day (via Mushroom Music – available Monday 24 February HERE), including the accompanying music video directed by Paul van Kan starring Troy Cassar-Daley and Laurel Edwards and Beyond The River Bend – inspired by the Barnes’ family home in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales where “hope keeps flowing like water”. It’s a thread which weaves through this music as it does through Jimmy’s life.
These are clearly the songs of a man who still has a point to prove: raw and inspiring. And he is in career-best voice – riding and driving an emotional rollercoaster from soothing croons to wailing abandon. They are the sounds of a singer who has finally arrived at the point of complete instrumental control.
