Formed in the UK in 2000, Kaiser Chiefs are one of the leading bands of their generation. With almost two decades in the game, over 8 million album sales and an extensive back-catalogue of stadium belters such as Ruby, I Predict A Riot and Never Miss A Beat, the UK juggernauts are set to return with their brand new studio album aptly titled ‘Kaiser Chiefs Easy Eighth Album’, out March 1st, 2024.

The album announcement arrives off the back of roaring success with the Beautiful South inspired single Jealousy, the dopamine releasing How 2 Dance and latest funk-driven release, Feeling Alright, which came to fruition on the first day the band started working with Nile Rodgers.

In response to Nile’s question of “what have you got?,” the band searched through some jams and Feeling Alright was a song that stood out to him the most. They loved playing it but never really knew where it would find a home. Nile turned out to be the best estate agent and found it a home almost immediately. He also brought in Amir Amor, who turned out to be the housemate for the entire record. A good place to start.

Produced by Amor (Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Charli XCX), ‘…Easy Eighth’ sees the Kaiser Chiefs go for it with a fresh and bold new sound. From the Nile Rodgers co-write of new single Feeling Alright, to the joyous punch in the gut that is Jealousy, these ten tracks are a true statement of intent from a band that continues to deliver the goods again and again.

“We might never get to the point where we can sit in an armchair with our arms behind our heads and go: ‘lads, we’ve done it’. But at the same time, maybe that’s why, years later, Kaiser Chiefs are still here,” says lead singer Ricky Wilson, reflecting on the record.

Where 2019’s ‘Duck’ straddled the tide between Northern-Soul euphoria and early ‘00s antithesis, 2024 will see Kaiser Chiefs stepping into a renewed spotlight; delving into innovative sonic avenues while preserving the iconic Kaiser Chiefs essence. To come together to once again create what they craft best; breakthrough belters for the world’s dancefloor.
