Following on from their amplified track the void, Eora/Sydney-based artist KHAOS EMRLD has revealed a purifying new offering called restart – produced by Nat Sherwood (BESTIES, Somber Hills).

Off the back of several energised releases, restart sees KHAOS EMRLD wear their heart on their sleeve with gut-wrenching lyricism, coated in colourful harmonies amidst a distorted soundscape. Expressively indicted and dynamically elevated, the song is a testimony to the artist’s darkest admissions.

KHAOS EMRLD talks about the meaning behind restart: “This is my most personal song to date. It’s a journey across a hellscape I had to navigate alone, off the back of some incredibly hard lessons, mistakes and losses. It’s about grieving who you thought you were, and the people you thought you’d spend forever with. It’s about admitting fault, realising no one is coming to save you, living with your choices, and hitting the ‘restart’ button on life in order to give yourself another chance.”

In their first year as an artist, KHAOS EMRLD has received praise from the likes of triple j Unearthed, Apple Music, MTV Upload, FBi Radio, JOY Media, SYN Media, Backseat Mafia, AAA Backstage, Australian Music Scene, Something You Said and The Underground Stage. In the live arena, they have performed at events such as BONEZ Alternative Queer Party, Bubblegum and Transgenre, sharing the stage with the likes of Cry Club, Those Who Dream, Paces and Holliday Howe.

KHAOS EMRLD is the artist project from Eora/Sydney-based artist Cody Stebbings. Well-known as the singer, guitarist and primary songwriter for Down For Tomorrow, they have also worked with the likes of Stand Atlantic, Yours Truly and PENI PARKER. Their music has been widely embraced by Spotify, Apple Music, triple j, NME, Pilerats, ABC’s rage and Rock Sound (UK).
