Boorloo/Perth-based indie-rock band Sophian have unveiled their passionate single, Changing The Weather – produced by Dave Parkin at Blackbird Studios (Spacey Jane, Sly Withers, Old Mervs). This is the final single before the release of their upcoming debut EP, ‘Somewhere In Between’, set for release Friday, October 4.
Changing The Weather swirls through a cascade of heartfelt hues, felt in Sophian Manik‘s vocal delivery. The pulsing bass grounds the arrangement, anchoring the instrumentation that shimmers with rich textures and unwavering spirit.
Sophian talks about the inspiration behind Changing The Weather: “Changing The Weather captures the anxiety and hope that come with personal transformation. The lyrics depict the journey of someone striving for self-improvement, inspired by a heartfelt conversation with their partner. The metaphor of changing weather reflects the inevitable yet sometimes turbulent path towards becoming a better version of oneself, learning to embrace both the beautiful and challenging aspects of change.”
Accompanying the release is a regional stripped-back tour travelling across WA, performing at venues such as Hybrid Warehouse and Bungalow Social, joined by local artists Daisy Park, Charlie Youngson and Keeley Connolly.
Previous singles off the upcoming EP have seen support from Spotify, triple j, triple j Unearthed, 2SER, PBS FM, SYN Media, 4ZZZ, RTR FM and Gove FM. They have also seen support in the blogosphere from the likes of Atwood Magazine (USA), Backseat Mafia (UK), Pilerats, Music Feeds, MILKY, Australian Music Scene and AAA Backstage.
