Damien J. Johnson is an award-winning, chart-topping, Ipswich-based Country/Blues artist whose music blends heartfelt storytelling with a deep connection to regional Australian life.
Damien has shared the stage with Australian music icons James Blundell, Daryl Braithwaite, and Dave McCormack (Custard), and has performed recently at the Agnes Water Blues Roots & Rock Festival (2026), the Tamworth Country Music Festival (2026) and SPARK Festival (2025). Johnson and his Band are releasing their first single from an upcoming album later this week – and are premiering it exclusively with Good Call Live.
Lappin’ is a high-energy tribute to Ipswich car culture, celebrating the long-standing tradition of cruising laps around the Ipswich CBD. The track captures the spirit, nostalgia, and community of those nights, blending raw country grit with a driving, live-band sound.
This single marks the first release from an upcoming album by Damien J. Johnson and The Damien J. Johnson Band. The project was recorded at Studio O’Keefe in Ipswich and stays true to an authentic, live performance ethos. All tracks were captured in just 1–2 takes, with the full band playing together in the studio—no click tracks, no overproduction—just real musicianship and feel. Additional guitar, vocal, and percussion elements were later tastefully overdubbed to enhance the recordings.
The album has been entirely produced, mixed, and mastered by Damien J. Johnson, ensuring a cohesive and personal sonic identity throughout.
