Gadigal/Sydney-based alt-rock force RedHook have followed up the release of their kinky industrial metal slammer Cannibal featuring Alpha Wolf with a sexually-charged music video, directed by the band’s frequent collaborator and mate, Ten Of Swords Media‘s Colin Jeffs (Breaking Up With, Imposter).

The orally-fixated clip continues the themes of femme sexual empowerment and reclamation that charge through the veins of the track, featuring a cast of powerful women playfully asserting their dominance as RedHook frontwoman Emmy Mack writhes around in a pool of blood (it wouldn’t be a RedHook clip without some element of horror, after all), while Alpha Wolf frontman Lochie Keogh makes an earth-shaking cameo.

Emmy comments: “Despite the raunchiness of this clip, the whole shoot was actually super wholesome! I was genuinely so nervous about challenging myself to pull off a ‘sexy’ vibe on camera and wanted to make sure I didn’t fuck it up, so I tapped a bunch of my mates to come join me in the clip for moral support. It ended up being one of the funnest shoots RedHook has ever done! It felt like one giant slumber party, everyone dressing up, giggling, and having the best time. And I can’t thank all the girls, in particular, enough for empowering and uplifting me so much with their confidence, talent and boundless positive energy.”

Notably, the artistic vision for the music video was also rocked in post-production by some unexpected censorship restrictions, so fans are instead getting an “ultra-censored” version. Emmy elaborates, “That was very confusing and disappointing news. But I’d like to give our director Colin Jeffs the biggest of shoutouts for still managing to make the clip slap so hard despite having more than half the footage we shot deemed too spicy for the internet. But we figured, hey if we’re going to be this heavily censored, we might as well lean into it. We set out to inject a bit more sexual liberation into heavy music, so hopefully, the censored version is still sufficiently horny for you.”

In honour of their previous track Breaking Up With, RedHook have just announced their biggest Australian headline shows ever this August and September. The tour package is bursting with femme power, with the band to be joined by Naarm/Melbourne melodic rock force The Beautiful Monument and Mulubinba/Newcastle pop-punk stalwarts Eat Your Heart Out, with Boorloo/Perth metalcore rising stars Patient Sixty-Seven opening the night.
