Brisbane favourites Square Tugs are back at it again!
Following on from the success of their debut album ‘Monster Hits’, No Shoes, 2 Mobile Phones is the 3rd single released in 2023 from ‘The Tugs upcoming album due early 2024. It’s a two-and-a-half-minute catchy pop-punk tune.
The song tells of a drama-filled, late-night encounter between Dave and our photographer friend Bec in Fortitude Valley. At
the end of the night, they were on their way to get some halloumi fries when they came across an upset young girl sitting in the gutter. She was very distressed as her best friend, Erin had taken her phone and deserted her. Erin had left without her shoes and both of their phones, hence the song title. Dave and Bec looked after her and made sure she was safe. They didn’t ever get the girls name, but she’ll now be immortalised on this song forever.
The song was recorded at Recordworks with producer Jason Millhouse. “We’ve really tried to raise the bar with the song writing on this next album and I think people will be pleasantly surprised” says Paulie Tug.
