Formed in late 2022 in Pottsville, NSW, Thirst Trap have quickly made a name for themselves in the local music scene with their electrifying blend of alt/indie rock infused with reggae and hip-hop flavours. Known for their energetic live performances, the band faced early challenges, including nearly being evicted due to noise complaints. Rather than backing down, they channelled these challenges into creating their signature sound.

Since their inception, Thirst Trap have captivated and won over audiences, with every head in the crowd turning and saying, “these guys are good!” Which, in return, has scored them some impressive bookings. Notably, they’ve supported British India, played at Byron Bay’s iconic Beach Hotel, and recently won the Airlie Beach Festival of Music Competition in Byron Bay, solidifying their reputation as “the band” to watch in the area.

With a series of exciting gigs lined up through the end of the year—including a to-be-announced show at Miami Marketta and other notable venues—Thirst Trap will be gearing up to tour with a top-tier Australian artist in 2024, followed by their own East Coast tour, making it an unforgettable year for both fans and new listeners alike.

The band, made up of Django Dillon (vocals), Sam Parker (guitar), Will Mitrakis (drums), Biku Wernick-Aqorau (keys/synth), and Connor O’Leary (bass), grabbed the attention of Triple J with their breakout track Running Blind and are just getting started.

Their latest single, Self Ashamed, releases today. Speaking about the track, lead singer Django Dillon explains: “Self Ashamed is about someone who is struggling with internal conflict and desires, dealing with temptation and the allure of a glamorous lifestyle. The lyrics touch on the push and pull between self-awareness and giving in to external influences.” The track pairs its funky, upbeat sound with introspective lyrics, reflecting Thirst Trap‘s knack for blending thoughtful themes with an infectious, energetic groove.
