Lebanese/Australian pop/rock artist YAGKI has returned with her defiant single, Run – produced by Nat Sherwood (BESTIES, Yours Truly, Sarah Saint James).
Run unfolds with enigmatic guitar riffs that weave through a sonic landscape of intrigue, allure and raw intensity. YAGKI‘s vocals emerge, imbued with a flickering warmth, accompanied by harmonies that elevate the melody. At just under two minutes, the song builds to a swift, fiery crescendo, capturing a burst of electrifying defiance.
YAGKI shares the inspiration behind Run: “Run is about my sleep paralysis and night terrors. I wrote it in the perspective of myself at 16, during the peak of my sleep paralysis while I was homeless. While I was running, my sleep kept reminding me of where I had come from in bursts of shadows, knives and figures that I thought were real. My reality and dream became so blurred, and Run is about living between feeling dead and alive.”
YAGKI has seen previous support from Rolling Stone, HIT Network, Atwood Magazine (USA), Backseat Mafia (UK/AUS), triple j, triple j Unearthed and has had multiple videos added to MTV.
Last September, YAGKI also embarked on a One-Day Global Tour, performing in three countries in one day. Along with this, she recently performed in Mexico and in 2023 she performed outside Accor Stadium to approximately 30,000 people, along with multiple UNSW Roundhouse performances.
