Brisbane’s rising indie-pop-rock powerhouse Ixaras is set to release her most personal track yet, Do U Like Girls?, out everywhere June 27. Vulnerable, bold, and drenched in pop-punk energy, the single arrives as Ixaras builds unstoppable momentum with her first headline tour, which has already seen Sydney and Melbourne shows sell out, prompting the addition of a second Melbourne date due to overwhelming demand.
Do U Like Girls? explores the journey of self-discovery in sexuality, challenging societal binaries and expectations, while also questioning how we perceive and assume the sexuality of others,” says Ixaras.
The track is a fearless coming-of-age queer anthem that captures the messy beauty of identity and adolescence. With her signature blend of jagged guitars, introspective lyricism, and infectious melodic hooks, the song channels the inner questions many face in their youth and delivers them with cathartic honesty and joyfully defiant energy.
At just 17, Ixaras has already carved out a unique space in Australia’s independent music scene. Based in Meanjin/Brisbane, she’s not only a genre-bending artist but also the founder of Anti-Dismal, a DIY record label and all-ages event platform creating inclusive, community-first spaces in skateparks, backyards, and town halls. Her work as both an artist and organiser is rooted in the belief that music should be for everyone.
Ixaras is hosting a brand-new radio show called Unearthed High Frequency on triple j Unearthed, celebrating the 2025 edition of the iconic competition that spotlights Australia’s best high school-aged artists. As an artist making waves with her songwriting and performances and the founder of her own youth-focused creative agency, Ixaras brings energy, authenticity and a genuine passion for uplifting emerging talent to the show.
Ixaras first captured national attention with her single This City, which has amassed over 39,000 Spotify streams and was spun more than 200 times across 52 stations worldwide. The track earned her a first play and spot rotation add on triple j, rotation on triple j Unearthed, and placements across Apple Music playlists including Heaps Indie, Superbloom, and New in Indie. Media support rolled in from The Music, Happy Mag, Backseat Mafia, 4ZZZ, SYN’s Hoist, Auspop, and more.
Her follow-up single Mean, taken from her 2024 EP ‘full lover fake friend’, was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday AU/NZ and backed by Apple Music on Today’s Indie Rock and New Music Daily. It was spotlighted by TheMusic, LiveWire, and Australian Music Scene, further establishing her as one of the country’s most promising new voices. Ixaras has performed at Sweet Relief Festival alongside Kelis and The Presets, and showcased at SXSW Sydney. She’s also been announced for The Great Escape and NYE On The Hill.
Previously named an Apple “Up Next” artist in Australia, Ixaras has toured with Esha Tewari, worked with XBOX and General Pants, and been featured by Frankie Magazine, Happy Mag, and more. Her growing body of work stands as a testament to her DIY ethos, emotional depth, and unapologetic self-expression.
To celebrate the release of Do U Like Girls?, Ixaras will hit the road this July for her debut headline tour. With Sydney and the original Melbourne date already sold out, she’s added a second Melbourne show to meet demand. The tour kicks off in Melbourne on July 12 at The Espy (all ages, 120 capacity), with the second show added July 14 (venue TBA), hits Sydney’s Newtown Pride Centre on July 13 (all ages, free entry, 150 capacity), and wraps in Brisbane on July 20 at the Triffid Beer Garden (all ages, 320 capacity). Support acts Gordon’s Grandson and Jemzel will be joining across select dates.
Each show continues her mission to create inclusive, safe spaces for young fans, championing the same grassroots ethos that defines her career.
