Darcie Haven’s new single Burner Account is a gloriously unhinged heartbreak anthem sharp, shimmering, and entirely unafraid to say the quiet parts out loud. From the first line, it’s a confession booth set to a beat, where shame and humour co-exist in a very relatable mess. It’s a song for anyone who’s spiralled after a breakup, checking if they’ve watched your Story, using a fake profile when they haven’t.
“Heartbreak, whether that be from a long-term relationship or from a crush that simply moved on, can make you do crazy things,” says Darcie. “In ‘Burner Account’ I open the gates on every insane, borderline psychotic thing I’ve done in the name of heartbreak. From standard breakup protocol, like obsessively checking your phone for messages you know won’t come, to more advanced behaviour like creating a burner account on Instagram to view their stories anonymously.”
The song arrives with serious momentum: Darcie’s TikTok presence has skyrocketed with over 3 million likes, while her YouTube videos have surpassed 650,000 views, a testament to the Gen Z audiences who aren’t just listening, they’re feeling every line. Her fanbase, affectionately dubbed ‘The Haveners’, have even started traveling interstate to catch her IRL, packing out pop-up shows and merch drops in a show of deep devotion. Just look at this moment from her last event, or this one, pure chaos, pure love.
To celebrate the release of Burner Account, Darcie is bringing the music directly to her fans with two exclusive pop-up performances: Melbourne, 3:30 – 5:30PM, Saturday 27 April @ DGIANNA Studio and in Perth. 4 – 6PM, Saturday 18 May @ Neighbourhood Vintage.
Darcie’s rise has been fast but focused. Her previous single Hounds landed her the cover of Spotify’s Tapestry playlist and a full add on triple j, with further editorial love from New Music Friday AU & NZ, Hits Different, Equal AU&NZ, Indie Arrivals, and Fresh Finds, plus Tidal’s Indie – Rising.
The press has followed suit, with glowing features from Rolling Stone, The Guardian, The AU Review, Livewire, Women in Pop, and Happy Mag, who were among the first to declare her one of Australia’s most exciting emerging voices.
