Sydney locals and Australian electronic dance duo Hellcat Speedracer unveil JUMP!; a rave meets big beat meets hip-hop dance anthem featuring Gomeroi man, masterful storyteller and rapper Kobie Dee.

Off the back of a triple j first play on drive with Tyrone and Abby Butler, JUMP! kicks off the year with a bang for both artists.

Hellcat Speedracer share, “we had always known of Kobie and his music. We loved his energy and skills behind the mic. It wasn’t until an ARIA after party that we had our first proper yarn and vowed that we hop into the studio to cook something up. We had been really delving into heaps of rave/dance tunes with big rap verses in it. So, we decided that’s what we will produce. Kobie mentioned that he wanted to dabble in some new genres, so this link up was destined to happen.”

With a reputation for pushing the boundaries and experimenting with cross over genres Hellcat Speedracer reveal, “we love the challenge of making something new, especially mixing genres as a form of musical evolution”. JUMP! epitomizes the duo’s ethos and individuality, inspired by the fusion of hip-hop and electronica music. Drawing inspiration from The Chemical Brothers infused hip-hop on Galvanize with Q-Tip on that track, the duo wanted more of a rave rock feel pulling inspo from N Joi and The Prodigy.  “That energy inspired the production, so when it came to putting rap over that we all felt Rage Against the Machine had that perfect feel to bring it all together and create something fresh and new,” Hellcat Speedracer reveal.

The creative process for making the record was an effortless one.  Kobie Dee shares, “our sessions usually started with the boys cooking up the beats and getting a feel for what kind of vibe the session is going to be! As soon as I catch a vibe, I start writing and laying down verses, it was pretty sick – every time I was laying vocals I would see Oli getting excited, and A Gray telling me that this was sick. We knew how we wanted the chorus and hook to sound, but we were working as a team on the best words / phrases until it stuck.”

Both groups have been teasing the new track at their live shows. “It has been epic! We have teased the track at a couple of shows and events and the people have been begging for a release date!.” Kobie Dee invited Hellcat Speedracer on stage with him at Yours & Owls to perform JUMP! together. “It’s been really refreshing to bring something like this to my sets ,especially since its mainly raw, hip hop storytelling it’s good to have a bit of fun,” Kobie shares.

JUMP! is accompanied by an official music video clip filmed at Yours & Owls Festival this year. The clip shows Hellcat Speedracer and Kobie Dee running around Yours & Owls, running a muck, performing the new single live while the crowd goes wild and matching the hypnotic energy the track gives!

JUMP! is the second teaser of lots more addictive energetic pulsating beats to come from the duo, having recently dropped the Melomaniac 002 EP, and the dynamic debut EP ‘No Chaos, No Future’ last year, which have received strong radio support from triple j and DSPs.

The new release comes out as the duo get ready to hit the decks at the Humber Rooftop, in Wollongong this Friday April 4 as part of GET2GETHR003, their monthly secret live series. They also announce the headline show at the iconic Chinese Laundry in Sydney on Friday April 11.

After a slew of performances, having recently performed at the Coke Studios takeover event in Manly Sydney, support shows with Peking DukPNAUCosmo’s Midnight and Joy Anonymous (UK), three sold out headliner performances in their hometown Sydney, and appearances at New Zealand’s Rhythm & Vines FestivalSplendour In The GrassBig Pineapple and Yours & Owls Festival, the duo have many more performances to be announced this year. Hellcat Speedracer are showing no signs of slowing down – in fact they are just getting the party started!
