JK-47 and Jay Orient return to the fore, with new soulful single Rain feat. Adrian Eagle, out today, Fri 30 June, following an exclusive first play on triple j last night.

Opening with a tinny trumpet line reminiscent of an old radio, the single cleverly unfurls to an open-hearted soul-swinging hip-hop anthem. His blistering verses harness the past to shout to the hope of the future: “Watch me turn these problems to progress”.

Rain feat. Adrian Eagle is introspective and reflective, lyrically and musically intensely hopeful, while still acknowledging the pain of colonisation, Indigenous struggle and the human condition in general. The song is a harkening back to the past to acknowledge a joy for the future.

“Rain is a song of hope. Written at a time in our lives where all we could see was problems. We wrote it to let people know that there is growth in the struggles we endure. So even though you’re going through it, be joyful, because the sun gonna shine again,” said JK-47 of the latest single.

It’s only natural that the record arrives as a collaboration between JK-47 and ARIA-Award winning hip-hop artist, Jay Orient, neighbours who grew up on the NSW coast over the back fence from each other. The love of music brought them back together after going seperate ways for their education.

A follow on from single At One (reVision) ft. Nate G which took the hip-hop community by storm, landing JK-47 and Jay Orient on playlists such as ‘The Drip’, ‘Beats ‘n’ Bars’, and covers on Apple Music’s ‘FIRST’ playlist. Since then he’s performed a headline tour across the country, and at festivals such as Splendour in the GrassBluesfestWildlandsField DayBeyond the ValleyFirst & ForeverSt. Kilda Festival, and Adelaide Festival to name a few.
