With their recent single Sleep Alone claiming the #1 spot on the AMRAP Metro Charts, Joan & The Giants are riding a wave of musical triumph. Backed by the unwavering support of triple j, triple j Unearthed, Rebel FM, 4ZZZ, RTR FM, SYN, and ABC Radio, the band is set to captivate audiences as they grace the BIGSOUND Festival, emerging as one of the most anticipated acts of the year.

Fronted by the captivating vocals of Grace Newton-Wordsworth, who boldly broke free from a conservative religious upbringing to pursue her musical passions, and accompanied by the evocative guitar artistry of First Nations musician Aaron Birch, a Kimberley resident whose strings resonate with ancestral wisdom, the duo has garnered recognition with WAM Awards for ‘Best Rock Song’ and ‘Outstanding Indigenous.’ They’ve also shared stages with notable acts including Eskimo Joe, Winterbourne, and Caravana Sun. With over 600,000 streams across DSPs, their musical magnetism is undeniable.

Embracing their roots and celebrating their meteoric rise, Joan & The Giants present their curated list of the Top 5 “must-do’s” in South-East Queensland.

C’mon Queenslanders! Let us know… Did they get it right?! What did they miss?!!

Number 1: EXPERIENCING BIGSOUND!
We’ve been dreaming of playing BIGSOUND for years, and we’re so excited to be part of this years showcase in Fortitude Valley (which I am also super keen to explore the great bars, cafes and venues in this area).

I’m looking forward to seeing such an eclectic, diverse range of artists and genres. I wish there was time to see everyone showcasing! I am also really looking forward to the Keynote speakers and taking in some of their wisdom and stories. Also I’m excited to meet new people, who ultimately are all there because we love music!

Number 2: Streets Beach in South Bank!
It is the coolest thing ever to have a pool in the middle of the city accessible to everyone for freeeeee! I cannot wait to go here and have a swim or dip my toes in and soak in the views and vibes!

Number 3: Theme Parks!!!
Queensland (Gold Coast) is the home to Dreamworld, Wet N Wild, Movie World and all the theme parks I’ve wanted to go to for YEARS! I wish we had more time, as this is something I must do! I am a sucker for a thrill, I went skydiving when I was 16 and have always loved getting out of my comfort zone. If I am near a theme park or a scary ride, I will find it and strongly encourage that my band members come on it with me hehehe…

Number 4: Queensland Museum
We are big fans of checking out museums and art exhibitions on tour! We’ll definitely be going down to the Brisbane Museum and also hunting down some art galleries as well! Would loveeee to check out the Gallery of Modern Art.

Number 5: Mt Tamborine Forest Sky Walk
If we have a car for this trip, I am definitely heading out to Mt Tamborine to the forest sky walk! We all love adventuring and finding beautiful views and walks to go on! This looks absolutely breathtaking, so hopefully we can make our way there!
