Hot on the heels of a sold-out show opening for Lane Pittman at this year’s Tamworth Country Music Festival, country star-on-the-rise Josie drops her new single, Our Place.

Josie’s music has gained popularity for possessing some serious authenticity and a whole lot of swagger. Our Place delivers in spades and has proven to be a crowd favourite with her fans at her live shows, bringing them to their feet and wanting more. Yet behind the dance-floor party tunes jacked up guitars and rolling banjo, lies a down home party story about community… and having a damn good time.

“If anyone has been to a party at my parent’s place, you’d know we don’t muck around when it comes to having a bit of fun, cooking up mean feeds, and letting your hair down no matter the occasion,” recalls Josie. Growing up on a bustling acreage in north QLD, the singer-songwriter drew the song’s inspiration very literally from her family’s epic soirees.

“My dad is out here cooking up a storm / Mummas cranking something loud,” she chimes in the second verse. “Dad cookin’ up a storm is no word of a lie, briskets and top notch bush snags galore,” smiles Josie. “Mum is always cranking the tunes maybe a little too loud… and the whole family would just about invite every man and his dog out for a cheeky beer that would always turn into 2am campfire jam sessions surrounded by empties.”

Once again teaming up with super producer duo MSquaredJosie relished every second of the session. Hearing my song babies that only ever existed in my living room come to life is an experience I’ll never take for granted, and this track was no exception to this incredible feeling. We started the recording process of this one with the guitar riff that you hear in the intro that drives the whole song, and I think it really set the tone, felt a bit dirty, bit groovy, I love it.

The party track follows on from her previous single, Freight Man, an earnest ballad about her truck-driving father, which has amassed over 365,000 streams. This is only Josie’s third single to date, and so far, the young singer has released an impressive resume. The icing on the cake – a sold out show in Tamworth with Lane Pittman“Tamworth in general was such a great time for me getting to connect with all the musos and industry people since releasing my music.”

Josie is certainly no stranger to a live show, having also supported giants like Troy Cassar-DaleyBrad Cox and James Johnston. The coming months will see her in the spotlight at Country Fest in Bloomsbury, Winton’s Way Out West Fest and Julia Creek Artesian Express Race Day.

Josie is a fresh voice in Australian country music, who is certainly carving out her place in the genre. With a killer voice and powerful songs to match, the Our Place singer, is poised for stardom.
