Cavanbah/Byron Bay-based rock quartet Lazy Ghost have just revealed their new EP ‘SARAH-TONIN’ – produced and mixed by Jack Nigro (DMAsThe TerrysPacific AvenueMiddle Kids).

‘SARAH-TONIN’ is five summery tracks of picturesque surf rock, led by reverberating guitar riffs, bounding bass and vibrant percussion. The hook-laden melodies and vivid storytelling of lead singer Kyle Leeming guide the EP through an ode to the Australian beach lifestyle.

Lazy Ghost talk about the inspiration behind ‘SARAH-TONIN’: “‘SARAH-TONIN,’ pronounced – serotonin – is a reminder to savour the rider beers and not to fret and stress about the venue forgetting to pay the band. The chase of success is often at the cost of ‘Sarah’, our friend and favourite neurotransmitter. ‘Sarah’ transports you to good times whenever she’s feelin’ agreeable but also stitches you up, leaving you high and dry as soon as you chase her. As we enter this new era of Lazy Ghost, I’d like to thank all our fans for holdin’ on.”

The opener, THE ONLY MAN IN TOWN, introduces a menacing, Western-influenced landscape with deft dynamics and a bridge that wades into an orange sunset, escorted by soaring guitar leads. It then unfolds into the carefree atmosphere, dance-infused bass and playful tambourine of PARK HOTEL.

The third track, WEEKEND, highlights the raw, live energy Lazy Ghost bring to their recordings with invigorating tom builds, compelling vocal refrains and surprising arrangements. Lead single EAT YOU ALIVE is next with its leisurely charm and chorus singalongs, a fitting Byron Bay inspired ballad.

‘SARH-TONIN’ closes with OLD FRIEND OF MINE, a heartfelt, reminiscent number accompanied by endearing backing vocals as Kyle sings, “the rest is for the wicked” as the EP fades out.

To celebrate the release, the band will be throwing a sold-out Boat Cruise Launch Party on the Brisbane River on SaturdayMay 11. They’ll also perform at Impy Yard Party in late May, with DICE for two shows in June and A Splendid Weekend in July. This continues on from playing to capacity crowds across Australia and sold-out shows in Christchurch, New Zealand, and supporting the likes of The TerrysDaily JPeach Fur and Sun Room (USA).

Previous releases have seen extensive support from the likes of Spotify and Apple Music, and Australian radio stations triple jtriple j Unearthed, Idobi Anthem (USA), Aussie Music Weekly and community radio.
