Cavanbah/Byron Bay-based indie-pop purveyors Lazy Ghost have just returned with their whimsy cut EAT YOU ALIVE – produced and mixed by Jack Nigro (DMAs, The Terrys, Pacific Avenue, Middle Kids).
EAT YOU ALIVE is a sun-soaked singalong that invites imagery of picturesque road trips and sprawling beaches, led by the carefree vocals of lead singer Kyle Leeming. The track’s compelling melodies are championed through the vocals, whistles, and reverb-laden guitars, effortlessly supported by the bounding bass and dexterous drums.
Lazy Ghost talk about the inspiration behind EAT YOU ALIVE: “In essence, EAT YOU ALIVE is a cheeky anthem capturing the antics, banter, and contrasts between the seasoned surf veterans and the carefree, eye-rolling young surfers in the sunny paradise of Byron Bay. It’s a light-hearted take on the surf scene, reminding everyone to take themselves a little less seriously and enjoy the ride.”
To coincide with the release, the band have announced an east coast tour of Australia, with dates across Eora/Sydney, Naarm/Melbourne, Monmar/Mornington Peninsula, Bullenah/Ballina, Bundjalung/Coolangatta and Cavanbah/Byron Bay. The band has previously supported the likes of The Terrys, Daily J, Peach Fur and Sun Room (USA), and played to capacity crowds across Australia and sold-out shows in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Lazy Ghost have just been announced as the 2023 winner of the ‘Greater Good’ competition, a package that includes a $25,000 cash grant and in-kind services with partners Studios 301, Zenith Records, Billy Zammit, Make Merchandise, PLAKKIT, Media Arts Lawyers, White Sky and Ben Mitchell.
Previous singles have seen extensive support from the likes of Spotify and Apple Music, and Australian radio stations triple j, triple j Unearthed, Bay FM, RTR FM, Radio Adelaide, 4ZZZ and Aussie Music Weekly.
