sleepazoid may be a new name on the scene, but their impact has been immediate. In the wake of their packed-out debut shows in Sydney and Melbourne just last week, the Melbourne / Naarm based post-punk influenced outfit have just released their gripping second single, RATS, via Surreal Sound.
Alongside the single release, sleepazoid are excited to announce their debut EP ‘Running With The Dogs’ will be released on Thursday 6th March 2025, with more details to follow.
Anchored by the commanding vocals of Nette France, RATS strikes an addictive balance between lush harmonies and punch-to-the-guts intensity. Self-produced through Groove Cult Records alongside the remainder of the upcoming EP, sleepazoid reveal that their second offering is “an ode to the age-old muse; our self-subscribed rat race.” RATS was mixed by Chris Doherty (Grinspoon / Hoodoo Gurus / Jet) and mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer Robin Schmidt (Wolf Alice / Royal Blood / Pixies).
The band – comprised of Nette France (lead vocals / guitar), Josef Pabis (bass), George Inglis (guitar), Luca Soprano (drums / backing vocals), and Jim Duong (guitar / backing vocals) – were met with swift praise upon releasing their first single RWTD last month. The gutsy debut was added to triple j Unearthed rotation, with music director Dave Ruby Howe writing “[Excuse] me while I lose my shit about this band’s snarling debut single.” RWTD was also added to Spotify’s Local Noise, Wire and Fresh Finds playlists.
sleepazoid will join Canberra dream-pop outfit Sesame Girl at Melbourne’s Stay Gold on Thursday 12th
