QLD indie-punk/garage trio Haters are proud to unveil their new single Last Night – a bold anthem for anyone who’s emerged from hard times with a renewed sense of life.
With relentless energy, brutally honest lyrics, and an anthemic chorus that begs for a crowd chant, Last Night tells a story of two sides – one toxic, the other triumphant. Vocalist Jai Sparks wears his heart on his sleeve as he takes listeners on a journey from being surrounded by the wrong crowd to finally finding and embracing his people and creating memories that last a lifetime.
“I love this song because the first verse tells the story of a past life that is unhealthy and filled with relationships that were fairly toxic while the second dives straight into the complete opposite – all while centred around a day and a night out and the contrasting memory the different times have created,” explains Jai.
Recorded and produced in Ontario, Canada with Scott Middleton (founder of iconic punk outfit Cancer Bats), Last Night hits with the gut-punch impact of Japandroids, the energy of Press Club and the intensity of IDLES, while embracing Haters’ unique lyrical edge. With Jai leading the charge in storytelling, bassist Kaito and drummer Jimmy anchor the track’s rhythm section with brute force, creating a heart-thumping soundscape that pulls listeners into every unfiltered emotion.
Adding to the buzz, Haters today also announce the release of their debut album ‘Non-Violent’ – due March 2025. In a special treat for fans, the album will be available exclusively on vinyl from November 22, months before the full digital release. This exclusive early vinyl drop will give hardcore fans an intimate, first-listen experience of the band’s powerfully raw body of work.
Set to feature singles Young Ones, Quit My Job, wander//wonder and now Last Night, Haters will launch the physical form of Non-Violent across record stores throughout their home state in QLD, along with two special single launch shows in Brisbane and Melbourne. For fans lucky enough to experience a Haters live show, it’s a rare opportunity to take home a tangible piece of the band – something that feels earned and truly personal.
Having already made waves with their live show at NXNE in Toronto and BIGSOUND in Brisbane, the band continue to go from strength to strength every time they pick up their instruments and these upcoming launch shows displays Haters’ staunch commitment to authenticity and human connection.
