Following up on the release of their second single Blackout, Planisphere return with another serving of new music. New EP, ‘Liminal Pt. II’, features three completely new tracks and further develops the new heavier direction the outfit has been moving towards, while staying true to their rock roots.
Starting with Seance, the EP comes out swinging with fast paced riffs, a huge chorus and a Slipknot-esque breakdown. The 2nd track Cut Off, brings a fuzzier rock vibe to the table with pulsing synth danceable verses.
“I knew Seance would be the opener soon as I had that main riff, it’s just so high energy with the DnB style beat underneath. Cut Off was actually a super old demo back from when this band was a 2 piece playing garage rock, dusted off and re written all around the verses” – Lorcan Coates, Planisphere
The final new track, Rain, includes a feature from Aaron Griffiths from Space Flamingo, and he wastes no time in showcasing his soaring vocals over the dense production, slotting in perfectly with the world the band has created for him.
“Rain might actually be my personal favourite. I always wanted to do a feature on this record and as soon as I had that chorus written I knew Aaron would be perfect on it.” – Lorcan Coates, Planisphere
Expanding on the groundwork laid in ‘Liminal Pt. I’ and single Blackout, Planisphere further cultivates their distinctive blend of electronic, pop, and heavy rock elements, shaping a sound that’s both fresh and resonant. This latest release also underscores the band’s commitment to self-sufficiency, with Lorcan Coates steering the creative process from conception and production to final mix.
‘Liminal Pt. II’ continues the journey of growth for the band, as Planisphere continue to pave their way as ones to watch in the alternative music scene in Australia.
