Ahead of the release of his brand new EP ‘Mirage’, due out on Friday 1 December; multi-faceted guitarist and songwriter Plini has unveiled a scintillating new single Still Life out now.

Balancing gleaming guitarwork, whimsical grooves and oscillating instrumentation, Still Life also features some spectacular additional fretwork courtesy of Animals As Leaders guitarist Tosin Abasi.

“Tosin was one of the main inspirations for me getting into writing guitar-centric music in the first place. His band, Animals As Leaders, took me on some of my first tours around the world and we’ve since become good friends, so to have him play on one of my songs is something that teenage me would never even have dreamed of. Such a treat!” – Plini

With five new tracks lying in wait on ‘Mirage’ later this year, including the vibrant recent single EmberPlini‘s forthcoming EP will also feature live strings, piano, oud and more alongside Plini‘s dexterous performance, a fact further showcased by his brand new track Still Life.
“Hard to know where to start with this song – it contains some of my favourite abstract drumming by Chris Allison, amazing bass playing and some very unsettling mixing by Simon Grove, and is the first song I’ve shared from the EP featuring live string arrangements by my longtime friend AJ Minette. It’s also my first recording using an Oud. Then there’s the video… my usual collaborators Jamie McVicker and Declan Blackall managed to make something that feels, in the best way possible, like more of a weird audio visualiser than a “proper” music video, and Emily Jansz created the perfect set for it. You should have smelled the room after having a raw fish in it all day!” – Plini
Springing back into action in 2022 following the pandemic years, Plini embarked upon back-to-back sold out headline tours of Australia, India and Scandinavia, festival appearances in Australia, UK, Germany and Portugal, and performing in some of Australia’s finest theatres supporting Northlane.
Consistently delivering mind-bending musicality from all angles, Plini has previously released two full length albums, 2016’s ‘Handmade Cities’ and 2020’s ‘Impulse Voices’, as well as multiple EPs, singles and contributing credits with various other artists.

Following a busy year of sold out shows across Europe and North America, guitar prodigy Plini will return to Australian shores next March in celebration of ‘Mirage’. Joining Plini and his band for the Mirage Tour will be New York-based international future jazz group Sungazer and the Polish progressive rock virtuoso Jakub Zytecki.
