Today, Australian singer-songwriter Siobhan Cotchin returns with a new emotive single, Too Good To Be True. The track coincides with the onset of her national arena tour supporting Matchbox Twenty and Goo Goo Dolls, in addition to her own headline shows and a stint supporting Boo Seeka across WA. Written in collaboration with Tim Nelson (Timothy Nelson & The Infidels), Too Good To Be True is Siobhan’s most in-depth dive into the pop realm, a foray that exposes a softer, more vulnerable side to her expansive musicality.

Thematically, the poignant track chronicles the internal struggle of an individual who, after enduring the pain of a past heartbreak, attempts to push away the allure of a new romantic prospect. However, as fate would have it, the narrator finds themselves drawn to this person, abandoning all logic and diving headfirst into the possibility of love, even if it comes with the risk of more heartache.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, Siobhan Cotchin shares, After a hectic breakup, we swear off dating and can’t even fathom the idea of doing it all again, but there’s always someone who falls through the cracks and lets you break all your rules. I think one of the most beautiful things about being human is being able to feel all of these huge emotions, it hurts but it’s amazing to actually feel something.”

The song strikes a delicate balance between Cotchin‘s signature rock edge and her burgeoning pop sensibility, featuring distorted guitars and a distinctive twang that sets it apart. Discussing the evolution of her sound, Cotchin reveals, I feel like this song is the perfect introduction to a new era. It’s still me but a little more honest. I’m still a rock chick at heart, but I’m bringing in some more pop-esque elements and showing a softer, more vulnerable side to myself.”
