Following on from her highly praised single Rear View, Tandanya/Adelaide-based pop artist Stellie has maintained her form with a magnetic new single Rocket Ship – produced and mixed by Alex Markwell (The Delta Riggs), and mastered by Becki Whitton (daine, Allday).

Shimmering with charisma and substance, Rocket Ship sets the scene with glitchy synthesised chords and graceful melodies. Oscillating bass layers and delicate harmonies crescendo towards an ethereal chorus, conducted by modest electronics and tranquil progressions. Ascertaining the themes of attractiveness in flaws and realistic adoration, the single flourishes with its candid framework and radiant qualities.

Stellie talks about the meaning behind Rocket Ship: “Rocket Ship was purely accidental. I walked into the studio with no real plan, and this was the result – a sharp, edgy, and slightly subtle track exploring the idea of ‘beauty in imperfections’. It was written in my home studio in Adelaide, before workshopping it a year later with Alex Markwell at The Aviary Studios in Melbourne. Lyrically it shines a light on a ‘real life kind of love’ – a love that is gritty and not always so shimmery and clean because that’s not always realistic. ‘My city isn’t pretty, but I still get lost in it every day’ – even though our love isn’t perfect, doesn’t mean it’s not worth living for.”

In early 2023, Stellie will open for New Zealand’s beloved Lorde at Adelaide Oval. This continues on from sharing stages with the likes of G Flip, Lime Cordiale, Winston Surfshirt, Didirri, I Know Leopard, Cub Sport and merci, mercy. In recent years, she has sold out hometown venues such as Lions Art Factory and The Lab, and performed at Vogue Australia Festival and Grapes of Mirth Festival.

Previous single Rear View saw widespread support from Spotify, Apple Music, triple j, triple j Unearthed, SYN Media, 3RRR, Radio Adelaide, Three D Radio, Southern FM, The Most (NZ), Prospect Radio (UK) and Funklust (DEU).

Singles from Stellie‘s discography have been added to rotation across triple j, triple j Unearthed and Double J, and have also seen widespread radio play on FBi Radio, 3RRR, 4ZZZ, Radio Adelaide, RTR FM, Edge Radio and Bay FM. She has received praise from online tastemakers CLOUT (UK), NME, Pilerats, Music Feeds, AAA Backstage, The Music, Purple Sneakers and Women In Pop.
