Sydney indie-pop artist, Abbey Lane, has reinvented her sound with her latest release, Ghost. The single boasts an amalgam of her go-to electro-pop sounds with new indie rock undertones. The song takes the listener on a journey with vibrant synths, powerful vocal melodies and an energetic live backing band as it explores themes around friendships and heartbreak.

“The song itself is written about losing friendships and the heartache that comes along with being ‘ghosted’ by someone you considered as close as family.”

Abbey Lane explains the process of slowly developing the electronic music aspects for the song during the 2021 lockdown, before bringing it to new life with her band. Three years later in June 2023, Abbey recorded the improved version with ARIA award winning producer, Dave Petrovic (Tonight Alive, Northlane).

“I worked on this song for a long time trying to fuse my influences together, and found that when I played it live with my band it took on a whole new energy which I loved. Dave was really able to capture the vision I had for the song and helped me find a middle ground between my electronic aspects and indie rock influences.”

Abbey Lane has been building a name for herself within the Sydney music scene since 2018, with 2 strong recently released singles as well as consistently playing around the Sydney gig circuit.

August 2023 will see Abbey Lane take to the road for the first time, as she tours her newest single Ghost – DATES BELOW.
