Andy Martin has a unique talent for turning earnest songwriting into hooky indie-pop anthems, and his latest track Toothaches is no exception.

Fresh off the back of his debut album ‘Reverie’, released in August 2022, Andy Martin shows no signs of slowing down. Following his 11-date album tour of the East Coast, including packed shows at renowned venues including Black Bear Lodge, Solbar and The North Gong Hotel, Andy was eager to jump back into the studio with producer Aidan Hogg (G-Flip, Holy Holy, Hope D). The two worked together to create the glistening sonic world that is Toothaches, at Brisbane’s iconic Plutonium Studios (Tame Impala, Hatchie, WAAX).

The track was mastered by Brisbane luminary Brock Weston (BUGS, Eliza & The Delusionals, Beddy Rays), who placed the final touches on this indie-pop earworm.

“I wrote Toothaches in mid-2022 after an amazing holiday that my partner Maisy and I went on in Tasmania. I feel like the vocal hook in the chorus and the shimmery guitars and synths throughout really paint a picture of cruising along the Australian coastline. I hope fans of Ball Park Music and Spacey Jane will really take a liking to this one!” – Andy Martin

So far, 2023 has seen Andy support industry giants 10CC, Kingswood, Ash, and Good Lekker, taking his energetic live show to the famous stages of The Fortitude Music Hall, Stones Corner Festival, and The Zoo. With a knack for crafting catchy indie-pop tunes, it’s no wonder his debut album has already cracked over half a million streams on DSP’s. Andy Martin truly has his finger on the pulse of the Australian indie music scene, and is not only one to watch, but one to jump on board with now, as his career continues to unfold in exciting new directions.

Channelling the youthful energy of The Wombats, the candour of Sam Fender and the warmth of Ball Park Music, Toothaches launches Andy’s music into a new era. Masterfully pairing his trademark sounds of hazy electric guitar and spirited synths with the addition of bright acoustic guitar and the vocals of co-writer Maisy Taylor (Vanda & Young Top 40), Andy has crafted a luminous love song that will live rent-free in your head and your heart.
