Following on from their recent release ByeByeBaby feat. Jade Alice, Naarm/Melbourne-based artist Arty Ziff has delivered an emphatic new dance anthem Rockstar featuring alternative-pop artist Lemonade Baby â€“ produced by the artist himself and mixed by SUB-human (SlumberjackWhat So Not).

Introduced by delectably reverberated vocals, Rockstar flows effortlessly with its soothing bass lines, mechanical beats, and spectral synthesisers. Shimmering with luscious magnetism, Lemonade Baby‘s melodies float with graceful influence, imposing the final ingredient for a gorgeously shaped dance track. Variation in repetition paves the way for a falsetto bridge, before the song’s harmonising stratums combine for a liberating finale.

“‘Rockstar’ to me is about the perfect night out, and for that one night you are a rockstar,” explains Arty Ziff. “Initially this song was meant to be an instrumental, but when Lemonade Baby got his hands on it, the track transformed into a party anthem.”

Alongside the single is the abstract music video – filmed and directed by Jam Nawaz and starring beloved comedian Mark Samual Bonanno from Aunty Donna. Shot in Bulleke-bek / Brunswick, the clip follows the protagonist throughout several industrial streets whilst dancing assertively. “The video is inspired by two things,” comments Arty Ziff. “Iconic solo dancer video clips, (‘Weapon of Choice‘ by Fatboy Slim, ‘Lonely Boy‘ by The Black Keys) and the viral Techno Viking video. We find our protagonist either early morning or early night trying to find a secret party. But on the way there, he is dancing to his favourite song.”

Arty Ziff is the moniker of Naarm/Melbourne-based producer Mitch Kelly. Taking cues from SG Lewis and Alice Ivy, Mitch fuses sun-drenched and uplifting soundscapes on offer that evokes the nostalgia of the disco era whilst maintaining a modern approach. In the live arena, he’s supported the likes of Fracturesdekleyn and Quiet Blue.
