Mulubinba / Newcastle post-punk artist Atlas Franklin Alexander has returned with his immersive cut Young Love – produced, mixed and mastered by the artist himself at his home studio. The single is the second release off his upcoming sophomore EP set for release early 2024.

Young Love forges a dreamscape with reverb-soaked instrumentation, shimmering guitars and echoing synths, saturating the listener in an otherworldly atmosphere. The fusion of vocoder-enhanced vocals and ambient instrumentation craft an encompassing sonic panorama, blending the raw emotions with a modern, diverse sonic palette.

Atlas talks about the inspiration behind Young Love: “Young Love’ features storylines of overcoming adversity and finding the resilience to get back up and keep moving forward. It speaks of finding the strength to keep going even when everything feels like it’s falling apart.”

Accompanying the release is the track’s evocative music video, directed by the artist himself and DOP from Dave Fulham. The DIY clip was shot with the help of friends, showcasing the intimate stories of the featured cast. Atlas shares the concept behind the music video, “Ultimately, I wanted to create a video that would capture the essence of the song and leave the viewer with a sense of curiosity and intrigue, to convey the feeling of being lost in a strange and unique world where things are not quite what they seem. The use of surreal imagery, along with a nonlinear narrative, adds to the spookish enigmatic vibe.”

In the live scene, Atlas Franklin Alexander will be performing at the The Lansdowne Hotel and at King Street Warehouse to celebrate the single supporting Velvet Trip. He’s previously sold-out headliner shows and supported the likes of Art vs Science, and graced the stages BIGSOUND, Bandaid Festival and Bloc Fest.
