WORLD DOMINATION! That’s what’s been on punk rock legends Dune Rats mind in 2023. Starting in February this year, Dunies have performed to packed rooms throughout the US, Canada, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, France, South Africa, Ireland and over 20 shows in the UK, which is where the boys are right now, their second trip this year.
They even found some time to play some shows in Australia including a triumphant (as always!) performance at Byron’s Splendour In The Grass where they performed their now iconic triple j Like A Version cover of Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again? joined by Kelly from TOTTY, Jackson from Beddy Rays, Ruby Fields and the legendary Brewster brothers, John and Rick, from The Angels on guitar, Dune Rats created one of the most talked about performances of the festival.
Somehow in between all of this, Danny, BC and Brett knuckled down to write some new songs for the follow up to the #1 ARIA nominated ‘Real Rare Whale’ album.
The first fruits of that labour is released today with new single Be Like You, a song about being unapologetically yourself.
Be Like You is a new sound for Dune Rats but it’s still quintessentially them. The full throttle punk track clocks in at 165 BPM and will no doubt send crowds into an all out mosh when the boys return for shows over the Summer.
“We’ve been psyched experimenting with new sounds that don’t necessarily have to resemble past Dunies songs,” the band said. “We feel Be Like You doesn’t sound like anything we’ve done before but still sounds like the three of us making music and it’s been a blast. Psyched for people to give it a listen and to play this one live!”
