Chloe Styler is a fresh voice in country music. Since her appearance as a grand finalist on the Toyota Star Maker stage in 2020 she’s released a string of catchy pop country singles, each earning her high praise. The next in line, Vaguer Than Vegas, drops today ahead of her long awaited EP, ‘Side A’ (available for pre order now).

Vaguer Than Vegas tells the light-hearted tale of a wannabe big shot. “The song was written about people who put on a façade of the ‘perfect life’ but, there’s nothing ‘perfect’ going on behind the scenes,” tells Chloe. “Working with the song title, we likened this to the glitz and glam of Las Vegas and the glamorous ‘show’ people put on when visiting the Las Vegas strip.”

The QLD native wrote the bop with Darlinghurst’s Jason Resch from VIC over Zoom – way back in 2019, before it was cool. “Jason had the title floating around in his head for a while, so we rolled with it and two zoom sessions later the song was done!”

Gritty electric guitar lines and a laid-back groove support Chloe’s dreamy vocal. It makes you feel as though you’re cruising the California blacktop, engulfed by desert vistas on a trip to the casino mecca.

The song’s entrancing blend of country and pop is the handiwork of producer Andy Mak (Vera Blue, The McClymonts). Tracked between The Grove Studios on the Central Coast and an Airbnb in Kingscliff, Andy enlisted a live band to bring Chloe’s vision to life. “Tracking with a live band was a new experience for me and I’m so happy with how it turned out!”

Vaguer Than Vegas is the fifth single released by Chloe since signing a distribution deal with MGM Distribution. Her previous offering, Girlfriend, received multiple Apple Music playlist additions and its video was added to Foxtel’s CMT. While her 2021 release, Consider Me Gone, earned a Top 40 finalist spot in the Vanda and Young Global Songwriting Competition. Chloe was also a finalist at the Gold Coast Music Awards and Queensland Music Awards in 2019.

Chloe is notable as a multi-instrumentalist (vocals, piano, guitar and sax) and festival favourite. With previous performances at the Deni Ute MusterCountry RocksGympie Music Muster and the last four years of the Groundwater Country Music Festival (to list a few). She’s graced the stage on the ‘Sass and Rhinestones’ tour alongside Hayley Marsten, has opened for Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Troy Cassar-DaleyLee Kernaghan, and is fresh off the back of her support on the national tour with Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey.

Chloe’s brand of country music is unique and inventive, with nods to both classic and modern acts. Vaguer Than Vegas is the type of song that you can instantly fall in love with, yet continues to grow on you with each listen. Fans can expect to hear the new single and Chloe’s new EP, ‘Side A’, in its entirety during her show at The Junk Bar in Brisbane on Friday 25th November.
