With swirling, hazy guitars & their now signature reverb-laced vocals, DIVERS have today unveiled the next single in the build up to their ‘Economy Class’ EP, the dreamy & wistful That’s Time Flying. Pulling from their own amorous feelings of youth, DIVERS were inspired by the moments of love & joy they had, surrounded by friends. The chorus of That’s Time Flying is however carrying a darker underlying message; exploring the relationship between substances and the user, treading through moments of deception to the true emotions hidden beneath, alongside difficult come-downs.

With their forthcoming EP ‘Economy Class’ set now for a Friday August 18th release, the band still have 3 tracks left to unveil, with previous single Security pairing with That’s Time Flying as the lead tracks from a diverse and exploratory release. Recorded out of their home studio in Melbourne, DIVERS paired with ARIA award-winning  producer Anton Hagop (Powderfinger, Birds of Tokyo, Missy Higgins) to mix the EP, with mastering by George Georgiadis (Tyne-James Organ, Last Dinosaurs). The release will be the band’s first extended body of work released through Australian label Domestic La La (Dear Settle, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, LOSER), after being hand-picked by Violent Soho’s James Tidswell for the roster.

“With That’s Time Flying we were trying to capture those feelings of our youth, going out to heaps of 21sts with your best mates and the pure love of those moments. The chorus is about the relationship one has with substances and how they deceive you in the moment and you think they’re your friend, but leave you feeling miserable the days following.” – DIVERS

Accompanying That’s Time Flying is a music video, produced & filmed by the band at ‘DIVERS HQ’ in Forest Hill. It sees DIVERS influenced by 80’s space exploration, with footage from the moon landing & space missions playing in the background, whilst the band dressed as ironic astronauts perform & dance in the foreground. An almost psychedelic & zero gravity feeling is present throughout the clip.

“We tried a ‘less thinking, more doing’ approach with this clip. We had a really small window of time before everyone went away overseas on holiday, so on a Tuesday night after work we headed to Spotlight with a 100 dollar budget. We ended up buying 4 orange jumpsuits, 4 buckets and some tin foil. Took it all back to HQ, knocked up a green screen in the band room and sent it to the moon.” – DIVERS

DIVERS combines multi-instrumentalists Ben Bray, Scott McQuilten, Jake Green and Tom Evans, with video calls & a joint love of music leading to the band signing with Domestica La La. Support from tastemaker triple j (Home & Hosed), as well as triple j Unearthed (Rotation, Top 5 Tracks of The Week) would follow, alongside praise from Pilerats Beat Magazine. The band have now accumulated 125,000+ streams across DSP’s, with their listeners continuously on an uptick.

Sharing stages recently with The Terrys, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, STUMPS, Jebediah & stacks more,  DIVERS are not only a bands favorite band, but are swiftly growing a reputation as one of Melbourne’s finest guitar-led outfits, with comedian Aaron Gocs a supporter as well. With more to come off of ‘Economy Class’, DIVERS are undoubtedly posed to light up Australia with their eclectic mix of influences from indie, rock, psych & a bit of everything in between.
