Yugambeh / Gold Coast-based country-folk artist, Emily Grace Taylor, has just unveiled her sweeping new single On My Way To You – produced by the artist herself, mixed by George Carpenter (Hollow CovesLittle GeorgiaVenus Court) and mastered by Matt Redlich (Ball Park MusicHoly HolyHusky).

Opening with beautifully arpeggiated acoustic guitar and tender vocals, On My Way To You is a stellar and intimate cut that explores enduring challenges while remaining optimistic as they’re overcome. As the track unfolds with its subtle yet apt percussion, stunning pedal steel glides along effortlessly, maintaining a mesmerising dynamic that shines a light on the compelling emotional message and themes behind the song.

Emily describes the motivation behind On My Way To You: “On My Way To You is a song about resilience, hope and healing. I wanted to acknowledge a particularly challenging time in my life, knowing that I had a way to go until I was through to the other side while also seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s about determining to get through the hard process of grieving / healing / growing, with the hope of better things to come. I wanted to ensure that the recording of this song felt as special and intimate as it did to me when I was writing it, so I decided to take the reins and produce it myself, with my live band doing a beautiful job of playing and helping to execute the vision. I was aiming to capture the essence and emotion of the song by making space for the lyrics and melodies. Simplicity in the instrumentation/production was the priority to achieve this and to let all the song’s vulnerability come to the forefront. It was a wonderful, cathartic process that has made me really excited about all the music to come for this project.”

Debut single Till The Day was strongly supported by the likes of ABC CountryABC Local RadioDouble Jtriple j UnearthedFBi Radio4ZZZJOY FMSouthern FMGove FMPhoenix RadioSunburnt CountryAAA Backstage and Australian Music Scene.

Alongside the new single is the dreamy and heartfelt B-side Green Hills & Blue Bells, co-produced by Emily and George Carpenter.

On the track, Emily says: “I wrote this song during the breakdown of a relationship. In the midst of it, I kept wondering if we just went back to our favourite place (where we used to travel together often) and forgot all of our problems in our day-to-day life, we could find our way back together and find happiness again. It’s a song about the joy that can come from the beauty of a physical place and the hope that it could bring healing and restoration back to a broken heart.”

Emily Grace Taylor is the new moniker of Emily Hamilton, who also releases music under the name San Mei, an acclaimed indie-rock project. “After spending many years making music under my project San Mei, I decided it was time to explore a different side of my artistry. It’s a beautiful feeling to arrive at a place in my life where I’m ready to do that and express this different part of myself as an artist.”

As San Mei, Emily has supported the likes of Holy HolyJack RiverAli Barter and G Flip and graced the stages of Falls FestivalBIGSOUND and SXSW.
