Naarm / Melbourne-based indie-rock artist Jacob Fitzgerald has returned with his vibrant single Sophia – co-produced by the artist himself alongside Alex Walker.
Sophia unfurls with commanding guitars, resonating drums and Jacob Fitzgerald‘s charismatic vocals, encapsulating the fusion of rock and avant-garde indie influences. As blues-kissed guitar lines saunter gracefully, the resonance of the anthemic chorus hook ascends, creating an ethereal symphony that echoes throughout.
Jacob Fitzgerald talks about the meaning behind Sophia: “Sophia is a simple premise: a man falls in love with a woman, but the woman does not fall in love with the man. It’s the tale of a heartbreaker. After absorbing the Nashville music scene in early 2023, I came home with the original riff and hook for Sophia tattooed on my mind. The enhanced blues-rock-inspired nature of my music consumption gave birth to a song I knew I NEEDED to write. As someone who feels deeply, in my mind, Sophia is distant, hurt and cautious with who she lets love her.”
To celebrate the release, Jacob Fitzgerald will be opening for The Struts (UK), alongside performing with both Pacific Avenue as part of Great Southern Nights and Jack Botts during his National Tour. In the live arena, Jacob has sold out multiple hometown headline shows and has shared the stage with Fergus James, The Delta Riggs, The Rions, John Floreani (Trophy Eyes), Selfish Sons, Loose Bricks, The Good Love and Chasing Ghosts.
Previous releases have also seen support from Apple Music, triple j Unearthed, Music Feeds, Backseat Mafia, AAA Backstage, Australian Music Scene, MILKY and Good Call Live. He has also seen radio love from 4ZZZ, 3RRR, SYN Media, 2SER and Three D Radio.
