Eora/Sydney-based artist KHAOS EMRLD has revealed their first single of the new year, titled the void – produced by Nat Sherwood (BESTIES, Stand Atlantic, Somber Hills).

Coalescing electronic beats with punk guitars, with a vocal delivery that is secure in its aura, the void sees KHAOS EMRLD firmly level up with both their song writing and production quality. It’s an offering that maximises its energy, traversing through realms of genres including a Sonic The Hedgehog-inspired second verse and an insistently relatable chorus.

KHAOS EMRLD talks about the meaning behind the void: “This is very much a ‘f**k it, we ball’ type of song. It’s about accepting that sometimes, life sucks, but it is what you make it. You can feel how you feel, in the end it’s about what makes you feel alive. I’ve been through hell and back a few times now, and this song is the result of that.”

KHAOS EMRLD is a collective combination of punk, hyper pop, and electronic elements, morphed into a figure of expressive vulnerability, a voice for fluidity and social progression. Enjoying their first year in action, they stepped into the music scene to revive their candid weirdness with three diverse singles: the hyperactive getting better, the angsty sophomore not the same, and an ode to self-love with myself again. They’re shifting gears in 2024, with a handful of releases on the way, and a mission to further explore themselves through the nuances of electronic punk music.

KHAOS EMRLD’s previous releases have received praise from the likes of triple j Unearthed, Apple Music, MTV Upload, FBi Radio, JOY Media, SYN Media, Backseat Mafia, AAA Backstage, Australian Music Scene, Something You Said and The Underground Stage. In the live arena, they have performed at events such as BONEZ Alternative Queer Party, Bubblegum and Transgenre, sharing the stage with the likes of Cry Club, Those Who Dream, Paces and Holliday Howe.

KHAOS EMRLD is the artist project from Eora/Sydney-based artist Cody Stebbings. Well-known as the singer, guitarist and primary songwriter for Down For Tomorrow, they have also worked with the likes of Stand Atlantic, Yours Truly and PENI PARKER. Their music has been widely embraced by Spotify, Apple Music, triple j, NME, Pilerats, ABC’s rage and Rock Sound (UK).
