Boorloo/Perth-based indie-rock band King Ibis have just unveiled their cathartic single ‘=Cooling Embers – produced and mixed by Dave Parkin at Blackbird Studios (Spacey JaneSly WithersOld Mervs).

Cooling Embers crafts a melodic melancholy, where Nadene Burchell‘s vocals soar with poignant grace, effortlessly gliding through the bittersweet sonic atmosphere. The resonant bass and swelling synths add richness, while the guitars propel the song into an immersive finale.

King Ibis talks about the inspiration behind Cooling Embers: “Cooling Embers began as a comment on the challenges of a long-term relationship losing its passion and spark, but the meaning changed for me after a conversation with our guitarist, Matt. He asked me if the song was about feeling disillusioned with pursuing a career as an artist. Since then, I have looked at it with fresh eyes and really resonate with the new meaning. Cooling Embers represents for me the moments of uncertainty but also the drive to continue finding the things that make me feel inspired and connected to the people I get the opportunity to share the experience with.”

Following their opening slot for Coldplay at Optus Stadium last year, King Ibis have just announced their first East Coast Tour, performing alongside acts such as Bootleg Rascal, Danté Knows, Chandler Jewels and Sophian. They have also previously shared the stage with notable Aussie acts such as Thelma Plum, Tash Sultana, Spacey Jane, Jebediah, DulcieSly Withers and Dear Sunday.

Previous releases have been widely embraced by Spotifytriple jtriple j UnearthedBackseat Mafia (UK/AUS), The Music, PileratsAustralian Music Scene and Eat This Music.
