Coming off the high of taking out the ‘Innovation Award’ in Brisbane / Meanjin’s QUBE Effect 2022, archaic dreams is the lead single off Australian queer pop artist, Laius’ debut EP, ‘lost in the throes of an archaic dream’, expected in late 2022. Laced with nostalgia, it fuses cinematic synthwave with Laius’ signature poetic storytelling. archaic dreams tells a story of being crippled by a fear of running out of time, set against a cinematic backdrop littered with sci-fi soundscapes. Laius likens the internal turmoil of pursuing music, a sometimes seemingly fruitless endeavour, to an imminent supernova. The aftermath of the cataclysm sees a tormented soul who cannot do anything but reminisce on his archaic dreams. This track signals the beginning of a new era for Laius.
