Today, Le Shiv release I Remember, a song that’s had audiences singing along since the band’s inception, despite never having been officially released—until now. I Remember is Le Shiv’s first single since their highly acclaimed debut EP, ‘New World Colour’. It also follows the announcement that they will be joining contemporaries The Terrys as the main support act on the forthcoming East Coast tour this June/July.
The journey of Le Shiv took flight amidst the buzzing parties of LA, where their captivating live performances quickly became the talk of the town. Le Shiv have been playing I Remember since these first underground parties and it’s become a crowd favourite. Pencil, the band’s frontman adds; “It’s always been the song that locks in a show. In Brisbane on our last tour, the crowd started belting the lyrics out before I even had a chance. That’s never happened to us with a song prior to release. It’s more straight-up rock than what we’ve been putting out, which is why we held off for so long. But it’s the one everyone keeps asking about, so we thought, ‘It’s about time we release it, aye!’”
Pencil also shared insights into the songs untended prophetic nature: “It’s one of those weird moments with songs where the lyrics didn’t seem to have any personal meaning at first, but after going through my own dramas in life, it was like they were written for this moment. I Remember explores friendships turning into relationships, and the inevitable loss of that friendship when things go awry. This song has trust issues.”
The poignant yet catchy lyrics of I Remember resonate with anyone who’s experienced the complexities of friendships and relationships: “I remember when you said ‘we could only be good friends’, then you went and changed your mind, now you’ve gone and changed again…”
I Remember is the first single following their debut EP, ‘New World Colour,‘ which received widespread support from Spotify, landing coveted spots on leading playlists and propelling the band to new heights of popularity. Their inaugural headline tour was a roaring success, selling out venues across Australia’s east coast and cementing their status as one of the most impressive upcoming live performances in Australia, dare we say the globe.
