The secret gem of Australian prog-rock, Le Shiv have just released their debut EP ‘New World Colour’. Hot off the back of touring with some of the most beloved bands in the country; Ocean Alley, The Grogans and Dune Rats it is a wonder how Le Shiv have kept themselves hidden from the masses for so long.

Le Shiv are no stranger to brushing shoulders with industry greats; writing with Grouplove’s Andrew Wessen on their latest single Charlie Don’t Go, receiving a letter of recommendation from Coldplay’s Chris Martin and having their music feature in a Lincoln Motors advertisement starring Matthew McConaughey. With such a stellar track record it is no surprise that their debut EP is packed with tunes that push the boundaries of ‘indie’ music as we know it whilst still getting every listener on their feet to groove along.

Lead singer, Jacob ‘Pencil’ Voroshine describes the record as, “a capsule of Le Shiv from birth to present. There are songs from the very beginnings of Le Shiv, some from a year ago and some only written in the few months before we recorded the EP”.

Even for a debut ‘New World Colour’ is mature and thoughtfully crafted, filled with equal comedic nonsense such as in the titular track ‘New World Colour’ which was born off the fantastical idea that there must be new colours on other planets that are yet to be discovered alongside tracks such as Sing My Last Song and Strange Two which are deeply personal insights into the emotional rollercoaster of life from break ups, to arguments, to falling in love.

With nods to both OASIS and John Lennon in the tracklisting, Le Shiv’s Pixies meets MGMT magic is amplified through the stellar names credited for production. From Andy Baldwin (Bjork, Del Water Gap, HAERTS) through to Chris Collins (Royel Otis, Middle Kids, Gang of Youths), ‘New World Colour’ is truly a testament to Le Shiv’s commitment to their craft. It may have taken five years for this record to grow from conception to birth but it is the patience to articulate and realise their artistic vision that places Le Shiv at the top Australia’s ones to watch list in 2024.

‘New World Colour’ will be supported by East Coast headline tour dates throughout March. Tickets are available for purchase now and the EP is available worldwide for streaming. Venture now into the psychedelic and heartfelt journey of Le Shiv’s ‘New World Colour’.
