It is only a matter of time before she is a household name in Australia, on a major record label and headlining festivals here and around the world” - Peter Noble, Byron Bay Blues Festival

Lucy’s a talented songwriter, singer, and musician. Lucy interacts with her audience so naturally and her voice is beautiful and unique, different, like someone you remember such as the likes of Billie Holiday or Amy Winehouse.” - Malcolm Haynes, Glastonbury Festival

Lucy Gallant has been hailed as one of the most talented rising artists on the global circuit. Anchored in folk-roots yet fiercely original, the British-born songstress has amassed a large, dedicated fanbase for her bohemian brand of indie-pop. Having released her incredible last single Heaven at the end of last year and touring all across North Queensland, Lucy is back in 2023 with the release of her latest single Love.

Love was recorded & mixed with Aria winning producer Govinda Doyle (Tones and I, Angus and Julia Stone & Dead Letter Circus) at his studio in Northern NSW. Govinda approached Lucy himself to record after seeing a live version of Love on Facebook.

Love is a quirky little ditty, rich in Bohemian flair and folk rhythms with a hint of worldliness; a tasteful blend of acoustic roots and eclectic pop.  The track is a tale of unrequited love and the music moves from downtempo melancholy to upbeat and uplifting; You feel every emotion in this track and it takes you on a journey.

Lucy says, “It sounds so cliche but it was Valentine’s Day 2016 and I was looking into the eyes of the man I thought I would spend the rest of my life with. I knew in my heart that he loved me but he was too wounded and afraid to let down his guard and say those sweet, yet terrifying four letters that create the word that makes the world go round. I could feel his intense yearning to be vulnerable but his conditioning would not allow it. This was the fork in the road. We couldn’t move forward together without a mutual declaration of love, and so, it ended.

Whilst wrestling with the hurt from this heartbreak I took to the streets of Byron Bay to busk and as I was singing my heart out playing on the street, the song ‘Love’ just flowed out of me. I wrote it on the spot and as I sang the lyrics, I could feel it healing the pain in my heart. The song is about overcoming the fear of feeling exposed after sharing my deepest feelings with the one I loved. It’s about needing that person to clearly affirm that the feeling of love is mutual.

At that moment, a man stopped and as he listened to me play the song he started crying and then dropped $100 dollars in my guitar case whilst saying “thank you so much I needed to hear that song”. Since then I have had such an amazing response every time I play this song live.

To tie in perfectly with the theme of love, Lucy will be releasing the accompanying music video on Valentines Day (February 14th).

Having toured the USA, South and Central America, Japan, Australia, UK, and much of Europe, Lucy has dazzled audiences at both intimate venues and major festivals such as Glastonbury Festival (UK), Beautiful Days (UK), Art Basel (US) and Australia’s largest music festivals, Splendour in the Grass, Woodford Folk Festival and Byron Bay Bluesfest.

Surrounded by rainforests, ancient volcanic mountains and craters, and crystal blue oceans in the sub-tropical paradise of Northern New South Wales, Lucy is writing, recording, and performing. She is releasing a series of singles and visually stunning film clips leading up to the release of her 6-track EP in April.

To celebrate the release of her upcoming singles Love & Rebel, Lucy will be touring across the east coast of QLD and NSW. Make sure to keep an eye out to see if Lucy comes to a city near you!
