Ethereal pop rock outfit Peace Ritual prove they’re here to stay with dreamy new single Cold Shoulder accompanied by the announcement of the impending release of their debut self titled EP, out September 2 via Last Ride Records. Pre-order now.

Cold Shoulder embodies all that it is to dream and wish to be somewhere else when life takes a wrong turn. “Cold Shoulder wrestles with deep-hearted disappointments that affect your sense of worth or self esteem, when dreams, hopes or relationships fall apart that you once felt so certain of,” tells vocalist Joel Martorana.

Years ago Tom and I would call each other weekly to think our film or creative ideas out loud, and we would inspire each other whenever things really felt idle – we’d often joke or talk about randomly moving to LA to try and push for some sense of creative breakthrough or to run from our problems. Lines like “…Lets go down to Hollywood… Feeling like we’re bulletproof” is a bit of a throwback to that time.”

Enlisting the production and co-writing prowess of Ocean Grove‘s Sam Bassal, Cold Shoulder is Peace Ritual at their strongest. To celebrate the unveiling of their new tune, the band will headline The Vanguard in Sydney on Friday August 12 to unleash it in person. Tickets available via Moshtix.

Peace Ritual‘s self titled EP is set for release on Friday September 2 through Last Ride Records (Speed, No Apologies, Nerve Damage), and is available for pre-order now. In collaboration with local Melbourne skate shop Brick + Mortar, the release will be available on cassette tape with a range of exclusive and unique items including incense and handmade incense burners

Tears Of Joy and Trust Fall established Peace Ritual‘s genesis, balancing swirling drones, jangly guitar layers and soulful pop sensibilities. Between the two singles, Peace Ritual have been played across a multitude of triple j programs, they have been added to rotation on FBi Radio as well as on MTV Upload and added to a weekend playlist on RAGE. Both tracks also saw editorial Spotify playlisting, exposing the tracks to thousands of listeners on initiation. The band also made their performance debut at the Burdekin Hotel in Sydney on June 12 as part of the afterparty for beastmode‘s sold out ‘Back On The Map Vol. 1‘ festival.

Peace Ritual is the dream pop brainchild of Joel Martorana (Endless Heights) and Thomas Elliott (Caged Existence) with co-writing and production credits from Sam Bassal (Ocean Grove). Born out of bedroom jams between tours, Peace Ritual was originally conceived as a hardcore band, but the duo unintentionally gravitated to writing rock or pop choruses and ultimately decided to pivot and commit to collaborating on a sound that felt most natural. Blending acoustic guitar, drum machines and synths, Peace Ritual abandon boundaries to find their balance.

Releasing through Last Ride Records, Peace Ritual take a unique place within the hardcore affiliated subculture, donning hypnotic and cult-like characteristics while searching for meaning and a sense of purpose along the way.
