Showing no signs of slowing down since their arrival on the scene earlier in the year, Meanjin-based punk / rock outfit Talk Heavy are today unleashing their punch-packing debut EP ‘Jump Into Nothing’.

After setting the scene with most recent release, Mixing Pictures, Talk Heavy are delivering a five-track culmination of their powerhouse sound, wearing their heart on their sleeves without sacrificing on their high-octane punk sound.

“Our debut EP ‘Jump Into Nothing’ is a group of songs written over the past year that we feel perfectly represent both where Talk Heavy is and where we want to keep heading,” explains frontman Matt Cochran. “I think it’s the most vulnerable I’ve been lyrically in my time as a songwriter and I’m excited to keep exploring that even further down the line.”

Engineered, produced and mixed by lead singer Matt Cochran at Birthday Boy Studios, with mastering by Matthew Gray, ‘Jump Into Nothing’ is a labour of love that truly sees the band come into their own.

Including mosh-ready single I Wanna Skate Again and introspective punk pumper Mixing Pictures, the EP also features three new tracks, kicking things off with the fast-paced cathartic release of Open The Door, suspenseful track Something Cool and finally, EP closer Skip To The Good Part providing a vulnerable lesson on recognising the future you’re waiting on is unfolding before you.

“We’re all super proud of these songs. They feel sonically consistent while still individually exploring different moods and song structures,” Matt says. “Considering it was all completely DIY as well and self recorded/produced/mixed we’re incredibly stoked.”

Recently signed with renowned booking agency New World Artists (Luca Brasi, Grinspoon, Mallrat, British India, JK-47, Sneaky Sound System), Talk Heavy’s spirited approach to indie punk / rock is gaining well-deserved recognition on a growing scale.

“After getting an early listen to some of their upcoming releases, we just HAD to work with them. We’re incredibly excited to have Talk Heavy join us here at New World Artists and look forward to building a long-term live career with the band,” shared New World Artists agent, Liam Saunders.

Drawing from modern North American alternative punk artists, with nostalgic pop-punk / emo at their core, Talk Heavy have already built a reputation for delivering riff-rampant belters with the power to stir a mosh pit into a fun-filled frenzy, and with New World Artists in their corner, and multiple shows scheduled for the rest of the year, they’re ready to “gig our big ole butts off!”
