Off the back of her shimmering debut EP ‘Heartquakes’, Eora/Sydney-based alternative-pop artist Darcy Lane has just revealed another resilient single 2022 Without You â€“ produced and mixed by Oscar Sharah (Mel BlueLola ScottAbby Bella May).

Sparkling with lustrous layers of synths and heartfelt chords, 2022 Without You holds a myriad of upbeat pop qualities amidst its piquant lyrical content. Darcy Lane‘s vocal flow is graceful as ever, her soothing voice hovering above a gradual swell of electronic textures, progressing towards the track’s emphatic chorus. Tiered additions of liquescent bass and radiant harmonies make for a diverting bridge before the emphatic finale heightens the song’s provocative sentiment.

Darcy Lane explains the story behind 2022 Without You: “2022 Without You is ultimately a celebration of being single in 2022. I started writing it in January and have been adding to it throughout the year. Initially inspired by the aftermath of a breakup, this song is about embracing the changes that life throws at you, moving on, and caring less. In a world where we receive constant reminders of our ex’s existence, it can be hard to ignore what they are doing and who they are doing it with. However, this song is a reminder to me, and hopefully some other people, that it actually does not matter what they are doing as long as you are living your best life.”

To celebrate the release, Darcy Lane will be supporting indie-pop trio Loretta at their shows in Dharawal/Wollongong and Eora/Sydney. In the live arena, she recently opened for Telenova at Oxford Art Factory in September and has also previously shared the stage with Pacific AvenueDande and the LionPearl and Iluka.

Darcy Lane (real name Laura Rooke) pairs vulnerability and candid melodies with ingenious production.
