It’s not often you come across an artist that stops you in your tracks completely. 17 year old, JACOTÉNE from Melbourne/Naarm and winner of 2022’s triple j Unearthed High competition, does just that. Today she shares her new track you already know (demo_2021).wav the first song she ever wrote when she was 15.

you already know (demo_2021).wav is a power-ballad which oozes into the listeners ear leaving them with only one thing left to do and that is hit the repeat button. It features JACOTÉNE’s distinctive voice that immediately knocks your socks off, along with her writing capability.

The track is the first out of a raft of songs that JACOTÉNE (pronounced ‘jack-oh-teen’) has had brewing and will be releasing in the coming months. It joins her debut triple j unearthed upload, I Need Therapy (demo) which got her the triple j unearthed win and triple j unearthed Music Director Dave Ruby Howe described JACOTÉNE as “a one in a million talent” with her unbelievable vocal performance, memorable hook and UKG-inspired production. The win put her alongside triple j unearthed high legendary past winners including Gretta Ray, Teenage Joans and George Alice. 

Since then, she has played a string of festivals and live dates including her own sold out headline show in the UK, a Sydney Opera House show for VIVID Festival as well as festival slots on Laneway Festival and St Kilda Festivals.

With influences ranging from Gnarls Barkley, Gorillaz, Amy Winehouse and Adele, JACOTÉNE is an artist poised to make her mark. She will be supporting G-FLIP on their upcoming Australian tour this September as well as playing a run of festival dates including Snow Machine, Wanderer and Changing Tides Festivals.
