Naarm/Melbourne-based indie-rock band The Great Emu War Casualties have just revealed their radiant new music video for I Just Knew Her As Ma – directed and edited by Szilvia Kaszanicsky.

I Just Knew Her As Ma is a whimsical and homely video opening with a carefree performance by the band, capturing laughter and camaraderie as they chop and toss plastic ingredients, creating a surreal and playful atmosphere. The members assemble around the dining table, adorned with an eclectic array of plastic dishes, seamlessly incorporating their surroundings into their musical performance. Still images throughout the video showcase the characters in various amusing poses, surrounded by plastic food props, conveying both the hilarity and comforting touches to the already quirky atmosphere.

The Great Emu War Casualties talk about the inspiration behind the video: “4 Emu Mothers prepare a special meal for their children only to find out their children aren’t children and are all in a band and also are themselves and they’ve written another new song.”
